hi All! Nick is the name. I live in west LA. Bought my first Miata last week (new 2006 sport, 6 speed manual, pearl white). I have not been able to stop driving it yet. (1400 miles in one week ). I have actually pillaged directions from previous/future events from the club to find happy roads to drive on around LA Looking forward meeting people from the club at upcoming events and learning a few things about the car and driving it !

Welcome! It's all about getting out there and driving our fun, little cars. I am a fairly new member as well, but I can say that as much as I love driving Sparky anywhere, it is more fun with a group.

You did good today on the pre run. Like how you drifted around that corner after the water hazard. It was a pleasure meeting and running with you. You need to come out more often.
Bring your wife and a pillow next time. When she gets mad about the speed you want her to have a soft thing to hit you with.
See you then.

yesterday was certainly my best fun drive day ever ! Thank you so much for the camaraderie, the roads and the spirited driving ! It was a perfect day. That drift really took me by surprise haha. If I remember correctly the road was straight after the waterhole - I was a little confused as to why the rear wheels wanted to turn - no breaking either. I guess on the hard uphill + throttle all the weight was really on the rear tires and these had zero sticky so the whole car was floating . Lesson is next time I'll give a minute to the wheels to drop their water/mud before giving too much love to the throttle. Still, it is maybe the third time that I get a surprise drift on the car and it does seem very vulnerable to that (as in, once the rear tires are gone all bets are off, and worse, these rear tires can go without any warning). I would love to practise some "forced" drifting to make sure that I get the good recover reflexes for the day when it happens again. What do you think would be the best place/way to practise on that ? Andrea is getting some stick shift driving instructions while she is with her folks in Indianna this weekend - (I tried to teach her - Dont ask ! ). My hope is she will get bitten a little by the miata when she drives it and maybe she will not put rocks into the pillow after that ! Now I need to figure out if I can put a discreet and good looking Ceebee in the car so I can spy on you all during travel!!. Has to be stylish/hidden install and look built in because I am a fashion victim ! Thank you for the fun !! I am totally up for more, my work life is unpredictable and always makes it very hard for me to commit to anything in advance. If the car gods are willing I will be there ! . I need to go to santa monica mountains with you and find out the good roads I missed there. Where was that road with all the plant nurseries on it ? (and the beatiful views of the valley on exit)
